Origins of Journalism
At the beginning of century XIX, a journalist was somebody who wrote in publications, but in the last century a journalist has become so much more than a writer for newspapers or magazines.
Many to those who the people consider journalist think that he is interchangeable with the reporter, being a person who collects and creates information written or histories. Nevertheless, to see it from this point of view very is limited since there are many other types of journalists, including the columnistas, writing head, photographers, writing designers, and publisher-substitute (British) or copy-publishers (American). Another important difference is that journalists do not consider themselves the designers, writers and directors of art who work exclusively in the publicity, since the material and the content are determined by the person who buys the announcement.
Independently of means, the term journalist brings a connotation or the expectation of the professionalism in the signalling, with the consideration for the truth, the impartiality, the balance, the decency and the ethics although the norms can vary extensively between publications. Many newspapers of the massive market do not make fingimiento in the impartiality, although in countries like the United Kingdom, generally they adhere to a voluntary code of conduct, with objectives such as the maintenance of the veracity. Some publishers allege that the slant and the prejudice it is impossible to avoid, and that he is more honest to assume a writing opinion assuring that that material is objectively correct.
